Description:
LeadOn Hong Kong is a volunteer leadership program in Hong Kong led by young people roughly aged 18–35, run by the NGO HandsOn Hong Kong in partnership with HKEX Foundation. It is a structured leadership and community engagement program that guides and trains young people/adults to build the skills to design and lead creative community projects. serving local social needs.
Positioned as a bridge between young talent and the workforce, focusing on soft skills like communication, adaptability, and collaboration in a social-impact context.
We are recruiting volunteers to get hands-on with our LeadOn Volunteer Leaders at board game-based service sessions for elderly people/young children at our partner NGO centres. These sessions use the power of play to create fun, structured opportunities for social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and skills-building in areas such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. These innovative board game workshops support social connection and cognitive engagement among elderly people and language development, creativity and confidence in children.
Volunteer Roles:
- Assist the Volunteer Leader and NGO staff in setting up the space, preparing game materials, and ensure all components are ready for use.
- Join small groups to play board games with elderly participants/ children, modelling turn-taking, active listening, and inclusive participation.
- Support the Volunteer Leader in explaining simple game rules, encouraging quieter participants, and gently managing basic group dynamics during play.
- Assist with smooth logistics such as registration, time-keeping, transition between games, and packing up at the end of the session.
- Participate in a briefing session and debriefing reflection to share what you observed about participants’ engagement and interactions.
Remarks:
- In this role, you will not be responsible for designing the program; you will be supporting trained Volunteer Leaders who have completed LeadOn’s Board Game Mastery and facilitation training to run impactful, participant-centred sessions.
- All volunteers must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. Friends or family members who wish to join are warmly welcome—please ensure that each person registers and signs up separately.
