Opportunity Details
Promote brain health through upcycled creations
Programme Description:
As concerns about cognitive decline in our aging population rise, this programme offers a sustainable solution by pairing volunteers with seniors through upcycling crafts. Research shows that artistic activities enhance mental stimulation and cognitive engagement for older adults. In this initiative, volunteers will collaborate with seniors to transform unwanted materials into beautiful, functional keepsakes, such as pressed flower jar lanterns, candle holders, and memory boxes.
The session will begin with an overview of the benefits of creative engagement and environmental sustainability. Volunteers will guide seniors through each step of the process—from preparing materials and designing unique creations to assembling the final pieces—ensuring that every participant can express their personal story and creativity in the project. This collaborative effort not only encourages intergenerational learning and social interaction but also turns waste into meaningful, cherished items that brighten homes while celebrating memories and promoting environmental conservation.
