Testing Corporate Help to deliver care packages to the elderly
Description: For most of us, the holiday season is a time of joyful celebration, but for some, it’s actually the most difficult time of year. One in five Hong Kong citizens lives below the poverty line—surviving on less than HK$4,500 each month. Although Hong Kong has managed the COVID-19 health crisis, much of the community continues to struggle, still depending on food banks and charities for basic necessities.
Thanks to the incredible support of the Hong Kong community—in response to HandsOn’s fundraising campaign—more than one hundred care packages will be sent to the elderly in Sham Shui Po supported by the Life Charity Commitment Club in the New Year. These Care Packages provide food assistance to help lighten the recipient's financial burden and show care and warmth.
Volunteers are needed to help assemble and deliver these Care Packages, each one allocated to households identified as being in need of food assistance and support.
Volunteer roles:
①a negative test report for COVID-19 within 7 days prior to the service day; or
②proof of vaccination indicating the completion of a COVID-19 vaccination course (two doses) at least 14 days prior to the service day.
Volunteer safety: Centre staff and volunteers will adopt HandsOn Hong Kong COVID-19 safety precautions in-line with Centre for Health Protection guidelines. If you have any questions regarding this service, please directly email hohk@handsonhongkong.org
